IU earned its second wide receiver commitment in as many days Wednesday, as three-star Florida receiver Whop Philyor committed to the Hoosiers via Twitter.
“I want to thank all the college coaches who has (sic.) recruited me in this long process, it’s been a great experience,” Philyor said in his tweet. “With that being said I am now committed to Indiana University.”
Philyor — known for his speed and pass-catching ability — chose the Hoosiers’ offer instead of offers from Louisville, Arizona, East Carolina, Virginia Tech and other Power-5 conference schools.
The receiver officially visited Bloomington on Jan. 13, the same day as three-star Mississippi receiver Tyrese Fryfogle, who committed to IU on Tuesday.
At 6-feet, 175 pounds, Philyor offers another shifty option at receiver for the Hoosiers, who have sophomores J-Shun Harris and Luke Timian freshman Isaac James as similar threats.
Out of Plant High School in Tampa, Florida, Philyor was on the same team as IU commit Thomas Allen, son of IU Coach Tom Allen. Plant was the division 7A state runner-up in 2016.
Philyor is the 19th commitment to IU’s class of 2017. National Signing Day is Wednesday, Feb. 1.
