Bloomington police have a suspect in custody Friday morning after an armed person was reported near campus, according to IU-Notify alerts.
The person was reported near 15th and Dunn Streets with a handgun, the original IU-Notify alert said. The initial alert went out around 6:15 a.m. A second alert just before 6:45 a.m. shared police had taken a suspect into custody.
IU Police Department Capt. Craig Munroe said while the suspect was about a block west of campus, he was last seen heading east, which is why the notification was pushed out.
“We had to assume that he was coming our direction,” he said.
