With rain and thunderstorms forecasted for IU football's spring game Saturday afternoon, the Hoosiers announced Friday that the game will be moved inside Mellencamp Pavilion.
The move means the game will no longer be open to the public, though it will still kick off at noon. It was previously scheduled to be held inside Memorial Stadium and open to the public for free as it has been in recent years.
"We made this decision to ensure the safety of our fans," read a statement from IU football's Twitter account. "We look forward to seeing you at Memorial Stadium this fall."
The spring game rosters were finalized this week through a draft and a "free agency" period. The Cream team will be run by cornerback coach Brandon Shelby and feature incoming freshman quarterback Michael Penix Jr. Team Crimson is led by running back coach Mike Hart and includes rising sophomore quarterback Peyton Ramsey.
Penix and Ramsey are expected to compete for the starting quarterback job this fall along with incoming graduate transfer Brandon Dawkins, who is not yet on campus. Last year's spring game was a breakout performance of sorts for Ramsey, who scored two touchdowns and eventually earned a fair amount of playing time in the 2017 season.
