A 14-year-old girl was approached in the Crestmont Park area by a man claiming to be a modeling agent.

She got into his car and was sexually assaulted, according to a Bloomington Police
Department news release.

The assault occurred at about 2:05 p.m. Tuesday.

The assault took place on the side of a road near Vernal Pike and Howard Road.
The victim reported seeing other vehicles drive by.

Afterward, the man returned to the Crestmont area where the victim was able to exit the car.

The victim reported the suspect was a white male in his 50s with white hair and a beard, about 250 pounds and professionally dressed.

The vehicle was a newer four-door model and is dark gray or silver.

The victim was taken to Bloomington Hospital where a sexual assault kit was filed.
BPD is currently working on a composite of the suspect.

Anyone with information concerning the assault can contact BPD detective Rick Crussen at 812-349-3374.

Elisha - I know what you mean about the "short skirt...asking for it" stuff. That is so dumb. I don't care if she was walking around naked - even then she wouldn't be "asking for rape." And I will word my comments better. In a sense, I think it might have been a bit mean to emphasize the foolishness of getting into the car just at that time. I mean the poor girl is traumatized and she doesn't need a lecture about not talking to strangers now....Anyhow, nobody deserves to get raped and obviously wearing a short skirt or getting into a strangers car doesn't mean you should be raped.... All this said. Rapists are scum and rape is a real problem. And while we must always be vigilant about rapists, we have to protect ourselves too. Keep your cell phone handy, go out with a friend, don't walk on deserted streets, all that stuff. Its a shame we live in a world where we can't trust strangers, but alas stories like this show why.

Alright, we are in agreement. It was foolish, you're right, and I did just jump the gun about you saying it was 'her fault'. Sorry about that, I am too defensive about sexual assault/rape against women, because you do run into people saying, "Oh well, short skirt...asking for it!" and that sort of thing. Sorry for misinterpreting you, I need to learn to read a few more times before viscerally reacting. I definitely hope they catch this guy, and fast--how disgusting to prey upon weakness.

Yo, Elisa: I agree this sleeze deserves chemical castration. Actually, even worse: a public stoning! So we agree on that. But don't misquote me please: I don't say it is her "fault." Nowhere do I say that. In fact I don't think it is her fault. Its the fault of the sleezy man. I said she was a "fool to get in some strangers car," and indeed she is. I say she is a fool but do not say she is at fault. Big difference. I learned at age 5 not to get in a strangers car: a 14 year old who gets in a strangers car is being foolish! This isn't exactly rocket science. Babys and their hands have nothing to do with this. by the time someone is 14 they should no gosh darn well not to get in the car of a stranger whose probably a sleezeball pedophile. But duh of course its not her fault what happened. She did something dumb, but of course wasn't asking for a sexual assault. Duh Duh Duh. If I had a teenage daughter and she got in a strangers car, she would get punished for being a fool (unless she also got raped, which in that case I'd let the matter slide). And I hope the sleaze who did this (assuming its true) gets the book thrown at him and gets his equiptment removed, if you catch my drift. Believe me, I think this stuff should be violently removed. I kinda even think the death penalty might be appropriate.

Wow, really? The first comment and you're already looking to blame the victim? She made a mistake, it was an extremely foolish thing to do...perhaps you missed that she is 14 years old? Children do foolish things, and I should hope that men are able to stop themselves from taking advantage of that. It is no one's fault but that grown man who attacked that child. As far as "fake report" goes, the police seem to be taking to be taking it seriously enough; if you actually have any experience in the field of rape counseling, or just common sense, you know that women don't often LIE about this sort of thing--unless they're lying to cover it up. The reason is women like you, who insist that it's the victim's fault for being naive. Do you think baby's who put their hands on hot ovens deserve to be injured? Really, grow up. Chemical castration for this prig.

What a fool she is to get in some strangers car. Still if the guy did this (and this isn't a fake report) I hope he goes to jail for years and years.
