Indiana men’s tennis players Isade Juneau and Samuel Monette lost their doubles match in straight sets Monday at the Challenger Banque Nationale de Granby tournament in Granby, Quebec.

Juneau, a senior, and Monette, an incoming freshman, fell 2-6, 6-7 (4) to the doubles tandem of Richard Bloomfield (Great Britain) and Toshihide Matsui (Japan).

Bloomfield and Matsui have each played professionally for more than 10 years while the two Hoosiers were let in to the doubles draw as a wildcard.

The tournament is an Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Challenger Tour event. Despite the loss, both Hoosiers will have another opportunity to beat professionally ranked players.

Juneau played his way through the qualifying bracket to earn a spot in the singles main draw while Monette was let in as a wild card. Both will play singles matches Tuesday.

Juneau earned five points toward an ATP ranking by advancing through the qualifying rounds and can move further up in the rankings with wins in the main draw.

In high school, Monette won several Junior Canadian National titles. Juneau, a native of Quebec, earned first team All-Big Ten honors this past season.
