Update: 4:30 p.m.The severe thunderstorm warning has been extended until 5:15 p.m. and now also covers southern Monroe County.Reports are continuing to come in of downed trees and power lines. Earlier:Monroe County has been issued a severe thunderstorm warning until 5 p.m.The National Weather Service warns that the storm is capable of producing quarter size hail, damaging winds in excess of 60 mph and torrential rain. Trees and power lines have already been reportedly downed by the storm, blocking roadways and causing some power outages. A severe thunderstorm watch will remain in effect until 11 p.m.
