Christa Kumming
"Christa started off very early this semester and has stayed strong," said Alex Farris, visual general assignments editor. "If she's not taking photos, she's designing pages, so she's very dedicated to her work. But it doesn't prevent her from having fun with people in the newsroom."

Year: Freshman Major: Photography, with a journalism certificate and art history minor Hometown: New Palestine, Ind.
What are your interests? "Aside from the obvious, I am quite the fan of classical music, Greek sculptural art, indie music, Vogue and Alternative Press Magazine."
My favorite photo I’ve taken so far... "I think my favorite photo I published was of the gold fountain in front of the Musical Arts building during Welcome Week. It was not only my first photograph published, but also was the dominant photo on the photo page."
My favorite IDS memory is... "Halloween slash. I had a shoot that day for rowing and was supposed to miss slash, but I dropped by quickly to grab an audio recorder. I went to grab a cookie from the table and I see Ashley Ames dressed up as Ryan Dorgan, beard and all."
My favorite part about working at the IDS is... "The environment. In retrospect, the IDS works as a classroom in which you gain knowledge by friendly competition."
I would tell students hesitant about working at the IDS... "Go for it. Not only is it a great opportunity to expand your experience on publications, but also another connection to the people on campus who share a similar dynamic and drive."
