Cliff Gagliardo
“Cliff is definitely a go-getter,” said visual general assignments editor Jay Seawell. “He began shooting very soon after his application came in, and on his first assignment covering the Pride Film Festival he got a slideshow on our Web site in addition to a P1 centerpiece. He is thorough and committed. I'm glad he made the effort that allowed him to move through GA quickly.”

What are your interests? “I’m sort of interested in everything, I guess. I’m not good at everything, but I think the same things that everybody is: music, movies.”
My favorite photo assignment so far... “The Gay Pride Film Festival. That was my first assignment. I did it for three days, and since I was there for three days by the time Saturday came along, I had more focus. I got two photos and a slideshow. I’m just trying to make sure I keep up that sort of quality within time constraints.”
My favorite IDS memory... “I enjoyed being up on the catwalk at the Buskirk-Chumley.”
My favorite part about working at the IDS... “I really think what I’ve enjoyed so far is the interaction with everyone in the newsroom. Of course I get interaction with the photo editor, but it just seems to be a very fluid, organic workspace.”
I would tell students hesitant about working at the IDS that... “If you doubt your abilities I think that’s not a problem because people are more than willing to help you. The criticism is very constructive, and if you’re willing to get better the atmosphere here is very conducive to that.”
