I appreciated the article about Frank Gillis ("Former IU director dies at age 85," Oct. 13, 1999). He was my next door neighbor on the Little Devils Track river outside of Grand Marais, Minn. We spent summer together and when he retired from IU we saw the Gillises often, especially after my husband Bob retired from IU. Frank was the entertainment for our social group, as well as our best friend. We will miss him.
