City should be outraged by riots

The student body and the citizens of Bloomington should immediately join in expressing outrage and condemnation at those responsible for burning or hanging people in effigy, issuing death threats and other acts of intimidation committed here this past Sunday. These are crimes of the utmost seriousness. The civil rights implications are obvious. What is particularly troubling is the chilling effect these acts have had on criticism of the riots, and of the type of mentality that caused them.\nI say to anyone who witnessed the perpetration of any of these crimes and whose conscience is bothering them: You are morally obliged, as a student, as a Hoosier and most importantly as an American citizen, to report what you saw to the police.
