Former head women's basketball coach, Jim Izard, filed a lawsuit against the University last week for discrimination. Izard claimed he was fired in March on the basis of his age and gender. He thought the University wanted a female coach for the women's basketball team, said Kit Klinglehoffer, associate athletic director.\nIzard has since been replaced by Kathi Bennett, who was formerly the women's head basketball coach at the University of Evansville.\nVice President for Public Affairs and Government Relations Christopher Simpson said he was unable to comment on the case because of pending litigation.\nSee Tuesday's IDS for more details.
