Following-up its platinum, hit-spawning debut, Sunburn, Pennsylvania-based Fuel returns to form with its new album, Something Like Human.
Many listeners know little of Fuel, aside from the fact they churned out the heavily rotated hit "Shimmer," in addition to other radio friendly tunes such as, "Bittersweet" or "Jesus or a Gun."

The disc was co-produced by Ben Grosse (Filter) and guitarist Carl Bell. In addition to production duties, Bell also penned most of the album's tracks. The work Bell put into the album is fairly evident, and listeners are rewarded with a cool, if not entirely original, disc.
The first single off Something Like Human is entitled "Hemorrhage (In My Hands)." The song is a lot more mellow than a majority of the other tracks on the album and should suffice for fans of "Shimmer."
The album's sound occasionally fluctuates between cacophony and harmony, being somewhat reminiscent of Grosse's past work with Filter. But that's not to say that Something Like Human doesn't have merits of its own.
Numerous tracks on the album have the potential to spur hit singles. These include "Bad Day," "Innocent" and "Slow." And while the other tunes aren't necessarily primed to shoot up the Billboard charts, they're perfectly good in their own right.
Driven by the solid vocals of lead singer Brett Scallions, the smooth guitar parts of both Scallions and Bell, the sweet bass lines of Jeff Abercrombie and the thunderous backbeats of drummer Kevin Miller, Fuel has assembled an album of somewhat grand proportions.
The only thing that could really be held against Fuel is that the album sounds somewhat similar to any number of other chart-topping modern rock acts. But that minor quibble aside, the band has created a pretty sweet rock album. Something Like Human is certain to catch fire this fall under the able hands of Fuel.
