The IU Police Department said it is still trying to find and charge suspects involved in campus disturbances Sept. 10. The riots were a result of the removal of former basketball Coach Bob Knight. \nThursday, IUPD posted photographs of criminal acts taken that night on its Web site at www.indiana.edu/~iupd.\nIndividuals in the photos have not been identified by police or charged with any criminal violation.\nLt. Jerry Minger said police are asking community assistance to identify persons involved in criminal actions that night, in the photos or otherwise.\nMinger said damage was not only done to University property, but to the private property of Bloomington residents -- including slashed tires, broken car windows and other property damage.\n"Anyone with the best interests of the University would want to assist the police with preventing any future damage, and we feel like that's part of our job," Minger said.\nIf caught, Minger said suspects could face charges of criminal mischief, arson, vandalism and larceny.\n"I'm sure anyone who looks at these (photos) and knows the identity of the people will be able to recognize them in the photos," Minger said.\nHe said community policing is especially important during mass demonstrations when a large, unruly crowd gives individuals anonymity.\n"It would be wonderful if the public saw fit to police themselves," Minger said.
