While sitting in the theater watching "Charlie's Angels," one could not help noticing, albeit amid the fights, laughs and of course the Angels themselves, how incredible the music was. Purchasing the soundtrack, which is a compilation of tunes stretching back to the '70s, is truly worthwhile.

McG, "Charlie's Angels'" director, certainly knows how to pack a powerful punch with his soundtrack. This is reflected in songs like the deliciously fabulous 1977 Heart tune "Barracuda" and Sir Mix-A-Lot's "Baby Got Back," which will have listeners chanting "Oh my God, Becky. Look at her butt."
Perhaps what is best about this soundtrack is it takes old classics and makes them new again. Listeners cannot help loving guilty pleasure songs like Leo Sayer's "You Make Me Feel Like Dancing" and Looking Glass' "Brandy (You're a Fine Girl)," which has a hilarious intro by Tom Green.
Groove classics like Marvin Gaye's "Got to Give it Up" and Deee-Lite's "Groove is in the Heart" will keep listeners dancing down the freeway.
The music is fun and free, perfect for driving or dancing at home. Some of the new material on the soundtrack, however, leaves something to be desired. The soundtrack starts off with "Independent Women Part 1," the Destiny's Child contribution to the theme of "Charlie's Angels." This song is not great and seems to scream an empty "embrace your womanhood" to the female listeners. Although it has a good beat, it is just not up to par on this soundtrack. "DOT," the other Destiny's Child contribution, is dull and was easy to skip past. Aerosmith's new song, "Angel Eye," is, in one word, horrendous and didn't even make it through an entire first listen.
The exception to the terrible new material is Fatboy Slim's "Ya Mama," which is a funky, danceable song that will make even the saddest of listeners happy. Caviar's "Tangerine Speedo" also makes the cut with a groove lounge sound that hits all the marks, and Apollo Four Forty's version of the "Charlie's Angels" theme song is pumped up with hip techno beats will bring back nostalgia for the television show and all its fun.
The one thing that would make this soundtrack even more complete is Prodigy's "Smack My Bitch Up," which is noticeably absent. Nevertheless, this soundtrack is fun, fresh and will keep you listening. So run, run, run to the nearest music store and purchase Charlie's Angels. It is one soundtrack that is truly heaven sent.
