Who reading this right now has gotten a parking ticket lately? I could bet that many of you have. Whenever I walk around this campus, I cringe when I see those little yellow disgusting envelopes with that red print on the front parked right underneath a windshield wiper. \nI'm not naive and understand that parking tickets are necessary in order to enforce the parking regulations of this campus. And that should be the point of a parking ticket. IU has turned these tickets into one of their main sources of revenues. \nAt $35 bucks a pop, these tickets drain the pockets of many students. So you have a job and get paid $6 an hour, and then, you get a ticket. More than six hours of your time goes directly to IU. And where does it really go? \nIn my mind, it seems as if it goes to paying more and more parking ticket employees, and it is really just a matter of time before these employees outnumber the students. Maybe I took that a bit too far, but I think you get my point. The point is that we pay enough bogus infrastructure fees on our bursar bill and shouldn't have to stand there while the University takes its giant hand, squeezes us and turns us upside down. While shaking us violently, the University takes its other huge greedy hand and awaits the money to jangle loose from our pockets. \nWe, as students, are constantly scrounging around for those spare dollars at all times, and do we really have to be taken advantage of by the school that we attend at times of anything but wealth? What kind of education is that?\nScott Levy\nJunior
