Doninger receives ambassador award\nAthletics director Clarence Doninger is the first recipient of the William S. Armstrong Ambassador Award.\nThe award was established to honor Armstrong, president of the IU Foundation for 31 years. The Foundation is a nonprofit organization that raises money for the University, totaling $109.1 million in gifts during the 1999-2000 fiscal year. \nDuring Doninger's nine years at IU, Indiana athletic teams have won two national championships and 25 Big Ten regular season or tournament titles. When Doninger was an undergraduate at IU, he was a member of Branch McCracken's 1957 Big Ten co-championship basketball team, as well as the winning 1957 Little 500 bike team from Sigma Nu fraternity.\nFreshman arrested for theft of computer\nFreshman Nicholas Andrew Gochenaur was arrested Jan. 28 after an officer observed him carrying a computer in the 10th Street parking lot, according to the IU Police Department report. \nThe computer was taken from the Kappa Sigma fraternity, and has an approximate value of $1,000. When Officer Joe Amandola approached Gochenaur, he immediately put the computer on the ground and told the officer it came from the fraternity house, the report said.\nAccording to the police report, Gochenaur appeared to be intoxicated, and was taken to the Monroe County Correctional Facility. He was charged with theft, public intoxication and illegal consumption.\nEvent to benefit Humane Society\nThe Marketing Club is selling matchmaker service questionnaires and stuffed animals to benefit the Humane Society. The last day to purchase these items is Jan. 31.\nParticipants can fill out the matchmaker surveys, and Feb. 12 and 13, they will get a list back of their top matches, based on a series of questions. The three matches with the highest compatibility percentage will be treated to dinner at Malibu Grill, courtesy of the Marketing Club.\nIt is free to fill out the questionnaires and costs a dollar to pick them up.
