In preparation for the upcoming Golden Globe awards, we at IDS Weekend discussed which movies and which actors should win as well as who will actually win each award. We put politics aside and voted on merit. Don't be deceived into thinking the awards are all golden cufflinks, stilettos and endless thank-yous to people unknown to the general public. From the commercials, the Golden Globes look more like an episode of "Saturday Night Live" than a stiff awards show like the Grammys. But in case they are dry, we encourage you and your friends to have a friendly, fist-flying debate similar to ours about who should win, who will win and why we are so addicted to awards ceremonies in the first place. \nW - Will win; S - Should win\nBest Motion Picture -- Drama \n"Gladiator" -- S\n"Traffic" -- W\nBest Motion Picture -- Musical or Comedy\n"Almost Famous" -- S\n"Chicken Run" -- W\nBest Actress in a Motion Picture -- Drama \nBjork, "Dancer in the Dark" -- S\nJulia Roberts, "Erin Brockovich" -- W\nBest Actor in a Motion Picture -- Drama \nTom Hanks, "Cast Away" -- W\nRussell Crowe, "Gladiator" -- S\nBest Actress in a Motion Picture -- \nMusical or Comedy \nRenee Zellweger, "Nurse Betty" -- S\nJuliette Binoche, "Chocolat" -- W\nBest Actor in a Motion Picture -- \nMusical or Comedy\nJim Carrey, "Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas" -- S\nRobert De Niro, "Meet the Parents" -- W\nBest Foreign Language Film \n"Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" (Taiwan) -- S,W\nBest Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture \nCatherine Zeta-Jones, "Traffic" -- W\nKate Hudson, "Almost Famous" -- S\nBest Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture \nJoaquin Phoenix, "Gladiator" -- S\nBenicio Del Toro, "Traffic" -- W\nBest Director -- Motion Picture \nSteven Soderbergh, "Erin Brockovich" -- S\nSteven Soderbergh, "Traffic"-- W\nBest Screenplay -- Motion Picture \nStephen Gaghan, "Traffic" -- W\nCameron Crowe, "Almost Famous"-- S\nBest Television Series -- Drama \n"The West Wing"-- S,W\nBest Television Series -- Musical or Comedy \n"Will & Grace"-- S\n"Frasier"-- W\nBest Actor in a Television Series -- Drama \nJames Gandolfini, "The Sopranos"-- W\nMartin Sheen, "The West Wing"-- S\nBest Actress in a Television Series -- Drama \nSarah Michelle Gellar, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"-- S\nSela Ward, "Once and Again"-- W\nBest Actor in a Television Series -- \nMusical or Comedy \nFrankie Muniz, "Malcolm in the Middle" -- S\nKelsey Grammer, "Frasier" -- w\nBest Actress in a Television Series -- Musical or Comedy \nSarah Jessica Parker, "Sex and the City" -- w\nJane Kaczmarek, "Malcolm in the Middle" -- S\nBest Supporting Actor in a Series, Miniseries or Motion Picture Made For Television\nRobert Downey Jr., "Ally McBeal"-- w\nBradley Whitford, "The West Wing" -- S\nBest Supporting Actress in a Series, Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television \nAllison Janney, "The West Wing"-- S\nVanessa Redgrave, "If These Walls Could Talk 2"-- w\nBest Actor in a Television Series -- Drama \nJames Gandolfini, "The Sopranos"-- W\nMartin Sheen, "The West Wing"-- S\nBest Actress in a Television Series -- Drama \nSarah Michelle Gellar, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"-- S\nSela Ward, "Once and Again"-- W\nBest Actor in a Television Series -- \nMusical or Comedy \nFrankie Muniz, "Malcolm in \nthe Middle" -- S\nKelsey Grammer, "Frasier" -- w\nBest Actress in a Television Series -- Musical or Comedy \nSarah Jessica Parker, "Sex and \nthe City" -- w\nJane Kaczmarek, "Malcolm in the Middle" -- S\nBest Supporting Actor in a Series, Miniseries or Motion Picture Made For Television\nRobert Downey Jr., "Ally McBeal"-- w\nBradley Whitford, "The West Wing" -- S\nBest Supporting Actress in a Series, Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television \nAllison Janney, "The West Wing"-- S\nVanessa Redgrave, "If These Walls Could Talk 2"-- w
