Many fraternities and sororities participated in the age-old tradition of serenades Tuesday. \nStarted years ago as a way for houses to choose pairs for Little 500, serenades have become a tradition for most greek houses before Little 500 and Homecoming.\n"What was once an effort to 'win over' your favorite potential pair for events such as Little 500 is now just a tradition of sorority women and fraternity men serenading each other purely for entertainment," said Panhellenic President Marcie Goldstein, a senior.\nChapters can serenade as many as five different houses, said junior Nina Davi, Alpha Gamma Delta panhellenic representative. Davi said the men dance for the women, and the women dance for the men.\n"It's definitely a fun tradition," she said. "Everybody is always there. It's a lot of fun."\nSerenades are arranged by the social chairs of each house, said junior Ellen Hommerding, Panhellenic Association vice president of risk management. \nAfter serenades, houses submit a preference sheet to Interfraternity Council and Panhellenic Association and matches are made for Little 500.
