The men's track team placed third this weekend at the Penn State Collegiate meet with 86.83 points, behind conference rivals Penn State (134 points) and Ohio State (120).\nAt least one Hoosier captured a personal best in every event except the triple jump, despite an injury-plagued roster.\nEven at less than 100 percent, sophomore Contrell Ash led the Hoosiers by notching 18 points in just two events. Ash improved his personal best during his win in the 60-meters and claimed second in the 200-meters with another personal best.\nSophomore Matt Harris continued his streak of topping his best time in the 60-meter hurdles. He broke his own school record on the way to a second-place finish.\nPole vaulter and junior Dino Efthimiou, ranked third in the Big Ten, came away with a victory in his specialty, while sophomore Mike Minton took second in the shot put.\nFreshman Ryan Sarbinoff beat his fastest time for fourth place in the 400-meters.\nCoach Marshall Goss said he was pleased with his athletes' performances against the tougher opponents but feels the tension rising with the conference championships approaching quickly.\n"We were defeated, but down the roster, we had (personal records), which is very encouraging," Goss said. "We're just a little short on depth right now and having everyone healthy for competition. Following this competition, I feel much better about returning to this site for the Big Ten Indoor Championship in two weeks than I did a week ago"
