The women's tennis team started the season strong but has hit a dry spell in its last four games. Sunday in Knoxville, Tenn., was no different, as IU fell to Tennessee, 4-3. \nThe Hoosiers (7-3, 1-0 Big Ten) have now lost three of their last four matches, with the only win coming against Big Ten foe Iowa. \nTennessee swept the Hoosiers in doubles to pick up the match's first point. At No. 1 Alison Ojeda squeaked past IU senior Kelly Blanch, 6-3, 7-5 (3). Tennessee's Kim Gates rolled past junior Amanda Field, 6-2, 6-1. Depth helped the Hoosiers get on the board, as freshman Linda Tran topped Vilmarie Castellvi 6-3, 6-4. At No. 4, sophomore Jessica Levin pulled out a two-set victory, winning 5-7, 7-5 (3). \nTennessee sealed the victory with a win at No. 5 singles when Crystal Cleveland put away the second set against freshman Martina Grimm. Cleveland posted a 6-4, 6-3 win. IU captured its final point at No. 6, where junior Karie Schlukebir fought back after dropping the first set, to win in three.
