The crew team won two races, both coming from the novice boats, against Northwestern, Dayton and Cincinnati Saturday. \nThe novice eight beat all three teams in the 2,000-meter course, winning by more than 15 seconds against Cincinnati. The varsity four novice team did the same, sliding past Northwestern by 33 seconds to win the race. \nThe varsity eight finished second, falling to Dayton by just more than one second. IU struggled in the first 200 meters and fell two boat lengths behind third-place finished Cincinnati. But IU quickly caught up with the Bearcats and the Flyers with 50 meters remaining in the race to finish second. \nThe Hoosier varsity four made a last-minute lineup change, using a group that had never rowed together before. The new crew finished second. \nWater polo team garners 2 wins\nThe water polo team notched two more wins Friday, as the Hoosiers topped Villanova and Salem International at the Collegiate Water Polo Association Southern Division Championships. \nIU defeated Villanova 13-8 and routed Salem 20-10. The victories guarantee IU as spot in the Eastern Championships April 27-29 in Providence, R.I.\nSophomore Kristin Stanford and freshman Rachel Saal gained four goals a piece in the victory against the Wildcats.\nAgainst Salem, sophomore Sarah Butler took over the scoring attack, netting three goals. Seven other Hoosiers scored two goals each. \nJunior Kristen Mayberry made the Hoosier goals stand, as the goalkeeper recorded seven saves against Villanova and five more in one half against Salem. \nResults from IU's matchup with Princeton were not available at press time.\nMen's tennis team edges out Wisconsin for conference win\nThe men's tennis team earned a vital Big Ten road victory this weekend as the Hoosiers edged Wisconsin 4-3 Sunday in Madison, Wis.\nSenior Milan Rakvica continued to display the kind of ability that earned him Big Ten Co-Athlete of the Week by defeating Wisconsin's Danny Westerman 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 1 singles position. In the No. 2 singles spot, senior Ian Arons improved his season record to 15-8 overall and 4-2 in the Big Ten with a 6-3 6-4 victory against Wisconsin's Stefan Reist. \nWisconsin victories at the No. 3, 5 and 6 spots set the table for the final match at the No. 4 position. With the score knotted at 3, junior Rahman Smiley's clutch performance against the Badgers' Dustin Taylor resulted in the three-set 7-6 1-6 6-3 victory, giving the match to IU (11-5, 3-3 Big Ten).\nThe loss dropped the Badger's record to 10-7 overall and 3-3 in the Big Ten.
