Senior diver makes final cut

Davidson trailing leader by 80 points at national meet

IU diver Tom Davidson advanced to Saturday's three-meter springboard finals at the U.S. Diving National Championships. Davidson racked up 553.74 points in Wednesday's first round in Midland, Texas. Davidson, a senior, qualified fourth, 80 points behind leader Troy Dumais of Texas. Dumais claimed last season's national title. \nIU freshman Marc Carlton placed 22nd and sophomore Adam Hazes finished 31st. \nOf the eight finalists, the top diver will compete in the World Championships and will be joined by the runner-up at the Goodwill Games. The top six divers make the U.S. National Team.
