The women's water polo team begins the second round of NCAA competition in this weekend's Eastern Championships. The Hoosiers will travel to Brown University in Providence, R.I., and compete against seven teams -- Princeton, Harvard, Harwick, George Washington, Michigan, Brown and Massachusetts. \nIU's first game will put them against UMass at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. IU is 0-3 against UMass.\nWith a victory, the Hoosiers will face either Princeton or Harvard in an evening matchup. The championship game takes place at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. \nThe Hoosiers have not fared well this season against the teams they will battle this weekend. They have a combined 2-6-1 record against Brown, George Washington, Michigan, UMass and Princeton. Should the Hoosiers face Princeton, they will try to avenge two losses UMass handed them earlier this season.\nSenior Molly Fonner will lead the defensive attack for the Hoosiers. She is second on the team in steals and has only committed 17 turnovers. This effort landed her Defensive Player of the Tournament at the Indiana Invite.\nIf IU slips, it will fall into the consolation bracket, erasing any hopes of going to nationals. Only the top team from the winners bracket will travel to the NCAA Water Polo Championships May 12-13 at Stanford University.\n"Our goal the entire season was to prepare for the eastern championships," coach Barry King said. "I think up to this point, we have done a good job of that. We are rested and are ready. We will have to beat three good teams to win the tournament and advance to the NCAA Championship, but I think we are ready for the task"
