Women's track team garners 7 honors at national competition

After taking the Big Ten Outdoor Championships two weeks ago, the women's track team captured seven All-American honors at the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore., with three coming on the final day. \nIt's the most since 1990 and a tie with the most All-Americans IU's women's team has had at an outdoor championships at once. The number brings the total number of women's outdoor All-Americans to 28. \nIU had never won All-American honors in the 100-meter hurdles, 100-meter and 400-meter dash until red-shirt sophomore Danielle Carruthers finished second in the 100m hurdles. Carruthers time of 12.79 is a career best.\nSophomore Rachelle Boone followed Carruthers in the 100m and took sixth with a time of 11.44. Junior Tia Trent took eighth in the 400m finals with a time of 54.00 for the team's third All-American honor on the day. \nHoosiers finished their championships run with a team total of 13 points to stand in a three-way tie for 21st place out of 63 teams. IU was tied with Baylor and Auburn.
