Hoosiers upset No.13 Notre Dame\nThe women's tennis team remains undefeated after knocking off No. 13 Notre Dame in South Bend. The Hoosiers beat the Fighting Irish 5-2.\nIU was victorious in the top four singles positions, and won its sixth straight doubles point to improve its record to 6-0.\nAfter losing its first two singles matches, IU won its next four. Senior Amanda Field won at the No.1 position, while at the No.2 spot, junior Karie Schlukebir gained a victory. Sophomore Linda Tran remains unbeaten at the No. 3 spot, and freshman Inga Radel rounded out the quartet with a win at the No. 4 position.\nThe Hoosiers had not beaten Notre Dame since 1994.\nWomen shine at relays\nThe IU women's track team captured five victories in the 28th annual Indiana Relays on Saturday. \nJuniors Rachelle Boone and Danielle Carruthers dominated the 60-meter dash. Boone placed first and Carruthers placed second. Boone broke the Gladstein fieldhouse indoor record by running 7.32 seconds in the semifinal Friday. \nThe long jump was the strongest event for the Hoosiers. Rose Richmond placed first, Tandra Foster second and Jennifer Cobbina fourth. Friday was Richmond's first time back competing since suffering a thigh injury. Richmond missed the NCAA provisional by one centimeter.\nChristina Archibald was victorious in the high jump, jumping 1.73 meters. Emily Tharpe placed third in the pole vault.\nThe women's track team will be returning to the Penn State Collegiate Friday, Feb. 8, though Saturday, Feb. 9, as the 2001 defending champion.The scored meet will be held at University Park, Pa. \nMen's track victorious at meet\nThe IU men's track and field team hosted the Indiana Relay this past weekend. The two-day event involved competitors from all over the Midwest. \nThe Hoosiers walked away victorious despite holding a few athletes out of their events and letting some younger athletes get a chance to participate in the meet. The team had another solid meet with good performances by most of the team, head coach Marshall Goss said.\nThe men's team earned several NCAA provisionals. Senior Wasyl Fedoriw continued his string of impressive performance, earning his first NCAA provisional of his career, in the weight throw, and breaking his own school record despite a second-place finish.\nThe Hoosiers will spend this week preparing for the Penn State meet. The Penn State track is extremely fast, and many athletes will attempt to run provisional qualifying times.
