The IU women's golf team finished its season with a disappointing 16th place finish at the NCAA Central Regional Saturday at the Forest Akers West Golf Course in East Lansing, Mich. \n\"Obviously I'm very disappointed, and I know the girls are too,\" coach Sam Carmichael said in a prepared statement.\nThe team failed to qualify for the NCAA Championship, which will be held in two weeks. \nThe top eight teams from each of the three regionals (East, Central and West) earned bids to the championship. This marks the fourth-straight year Indiana has failed to make the "big dance" as they have finished 12th, 19th, 17th and now 16th in the Regional, dating back to 1999.\nTulsa carded a score of 290 Saturday, the lowest total in the three days of the event, and won against Texas and Ohio State by four strokes. Purdue fired a 920 for fourth place, while Oklahoma State finished fifth with 921. \nMichigan finished in sixth with 929. Oklahoma State and Michigan State rounded out the top eight positions.\nThe Hoosier golfers struggled in their play in the early rounds and could not bounce back in their last round on Saturday.\nJunior Cara Stuckey led the way for the team, shooting a three-over-par 75, followed by senior Tiffany Fisher and sophomore Danah Ford, who both shot 77. \nStuckey carded four bogies and a birdie, while Ford found some consistency in her play. She shot par for 10-straight holes before bogeying four of her last seven holes.\nFisher, in the last round of her collegiate career, shot a one-over par 37 on her first nine holes, but ended her last two holes with double-bogeys, leaving her five-over par.\nThe Hoosiers' top golfer, sophomore Karen Dennison, shot a 10-over-par 82, and sophomore Mary Lidester shot an 86.
