IU football coach Cam Cameron was dismissed from his position as coach this morning, IU athletics director Michael McNeely announced.\nMcNeely said he made his decision in the last 24 hours and met with IU President Myles Brand this morning. He said Brand accepted his recommendation. \nMcNeely said that he then met with Cameron and told him of his decision. \nHe said that the University will name a new coach within a month and that he will head a search-and-screen committee.\nCameron, who had a losing record each season and won only 18 of 55 games, had three years remaining on an eight-year contract. He was 18-37 overall and 12-28 in the Big Ten.\n"Five years is an important time to demonstrate success on the field and the classroom. We expect to be successful on the field and the classroom," said athletic director Michael McNeely.\n"There is not evidence that there will be further success in the football program" with Cameron, McNeely said.\nHe said Indiana would honor the rest of Cameron's contract, which will cost the university about $500,000.
