Divers Erin Quinn, a senior, and Sara Reiling, a junior, continued a spectacular week for the Hoosier diving program by finishing fourth and sixth, respectively, at the U.S. Nationals Sunday. Both earned spots on the national team as a result. \nSunday, senior Tom Davidson won the U.S. National title on the 1-meter board and placed second in the 3-meter competition. \nQuinn scored 461.34 points, and Reiling tallied 453.03. This is Quinn's second appearance on the national team and Reiling's third. Quinn competed in 1999; Reiling made the squad in 1997 and 2000. \nIn the synchronized platform competition, junior Crystal Gregory and sophomore Mamie Goodson finished second with 227.04 points, 10 points behind the winners. \nThe men's swimming team awarded four members individual honors for the 2000-2001 season. Senior Don Gold was named the most valuable swimmer after setting two school records and competing at the NCAA Championships. \nSenior Will Bernhardt received the Peter Johnston most improved award. Sophomore David Schulze and junior Hiroki Naganobori were honored with coach's awards, given to outstanding student athletes who bring honor and distinction to the academic and swimming process, coach Kris Kirchner said.
