Former women's basketball player Rachael Honegger has been sitting in a jail cell for the past month.\nThe 23-year-old senior, a former starting forward, will see daylight today. She had been in custody pending a court date on a charge of violating the terms of her house arrest.\nMonroe Circuit Court Judge David Welch sentenced her to three years in jail in October, but suspended all but six months of the sentence, according to Welch's office. Honegger pleaded guilty to forging more than $13,000 worth of money orders during her summer employment at the Ellettsville IGA. \nLast Friday, Welch accepted her guilty plea on the probation violation charge and ordered her to serve out the remainder of her sentence. Honegger will spend the next two and a half years on probation. \nHonegger told the court she failed to notify her probation officer of her whereabouts during a weekend after the Big Ten tournament in early March. She traveled without permission to Robinson, Ill., to watch her fiance coach a basketball game.\nChad Killinger, the father of Honegger's 18-month-old son, serves as an assistant coach at Robinson's Lincoln Trail College. They had planned to marry this summer, which is the reason Honegger originally gave for embezzling her employer's funds.\nUnder the terms of her probation, Honegger had been allowed to attend classes and basketball games after first seeking permission. IU President Myles Brand suspended her for five games, and head coach Kathi Bennett later dismissed her from the team after her second arrest.
