Rain cancels three-game series\nThe baseball team was unable to play over the weekend.\nThe three-game series scheduled this past weekend against Bethune Cookman was cancelled because of rain. The Hoosiers return to action Tuesday against Indiana Wesleyan at Sembower Field. \nSoftball drops two games after delay\nThe IU softball team had two days of delayed games because of steady rain while at the Holiday Inn/University of South Florida Tournament. The first three scheduled games were cancelled because of the weather, but the Hoosiers (1-3-1) played two of the regularly scheduled games, and dropped both.\nThe Hoosiers lost 6-2 to Coastal Carolina in the first Sunday game and lost the second to South Florida 9-0. The game was called after six innings.\nIU returns to action Saturday at noon against Western Michigan. \nWomen's golf team begins spring season\nThe women's golf team opens its season this weekend at the Central District invitational in Parrish, Fla. on tonight and tomorrow. The Hoosiers, who are ranked No. 34, are competing against 13 other teams, including five other Big Ten schools. The last fall meet the Hoosiers competed in was the Pine Needles Invitational. The Hoosiers finished third in the November match. The Hoosiers continue their play March 4-5 in Houston, Texas.\nBottom of lineup leads Hoosiers\nThe men's tennis team got help from lower seeds in its win on Sunday. The Hoosiers were looking to atone for their close loss against Middle Tennessee State last Sunday, and they accomplished their mission. IU (6-3) defeated Evansville 4-3 at the Indiana Tennis Center and ended its brief two-game losing streak. \nInitially, it looked as though the Hoosiers were going to win every singles point of the match. But the Purple Aces (3-2) came back to make it close. But IU managed to hold them off.
