Voicing opinions

For those of you who know me on a personal level you probably think it's oh so appropriate for me to be this semester's opinion editor. After all, there is none more vocal about their passions than I. But my gig this fall is not about my opinions. It's about your opinions.\nAs a forum for student voice, the opinion page seeks thoughtful feedback from readers. That's you. I am officially inviting all of you to submit guest columns, write letters to the editor (letters@indiana.edu) and send me flowers in the newsroom.\nAs a student newspaper we must listen to the students. As a newspaper that strives for diverse staff members, all sides of every issue are important to us. If you feel we are not seeing all sides of certain issues or feel our columnists aren't seeing the light either -- we want you to tell us, grace us with your insight (and no, that really wasn't intended to be sarcastic). It's important to me to have the concerns of the people who actually read the paper be reflected in the material we print. \nIn fact, this semester we are bringing back an old friend called Student Voice. The IDS will be out on campus, asking you what you think about certain campus, national and world issues. As if this could get any better -- you'll get your picture taken too. Hooray for the opinion page.\nOne more thing. Every Wednesday the staff will meet to vote on and discuss topics for the staff editorial to run each day. If you think a certain issue should be addressed by our staff, write us and let us know. The more you tell us about what you'd like to read in the paper, the better we will be at guiding the section in the direction you would like to see it take.\nThe fun starts now.
