INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indianapolis Colts don't expect starting defensive tackle James Cannida or starting tight end Marcus Pollard to play this weekend against visiting Miami.\nBoth were injured in Sunday's 28-25 victory at Jacksonville.\nPollard has cartilage damage in his ribs after being tackled and fumbling midway through the third quarter. He did not return.\nColts coach Tony Dungy said Pollard's X-rays showed no fracture, and the coach initially said Pollard might play Sunday. After Monday's afternoon practice, which Pollard watched in street clothes, Dungy changed the prognosis.\n"He won't play this week," Dungy said. "It's not like it's broken ribs or anything like that."\nPollard is in his eighth season with the Colts and has become one of the key players in the team's high-scoring offense. Last season, he caught 47 passes for 739 yards and eight touchdowns as he approached the club's single-season records, which were all set by John Mackey. He was selected as the AFC's first alternate to the Pro Bowl.\nHe was expected to play an even bigger role this season after the Colts released Ken Dilger. Pollard caught three passes for 34 yards against the Jaguars.\nPollard likely would be replaced by Jermaine Wiggins or Joe Dean Davenport. Indianapolis primarily runs two-tight end formations. If Pollard misses more time, Dungy said the Colts may bring in another tight end.\nCannida sprained his left knee on the Jaguars' first possession, costing the Colts one of their most experienced players on a rebuilt defensive line.\nDungy said he was waiting for results on Cannida's MRI Monday afternoon before he would say how many games Cannida could miss. Still, Dungy said Cannida would not play against the Dolphins.\n"It doesn't look like he'll be out a long time," Dungy said Monday.\nCannida signed as an unrestricted free agent after spending his first four NFL seasons in Tampa Bay where he played for Dungy.\nIf he does not play, rookie Josh Mallard, who replaced Cannida in the lineup Sunday, likely would start. Mallard is a seventh-round pick out of Georgia, who started just seven college games in his career. Mallard had one tackle against the Jaguars.
