The IU men's soccer team needs a confidence booster.\nAfter being labeled the preseason No. 1 team in the nation, the Hoosiers have had trouble living up to their billing in the first four games of the regular season.\nIU has gone 1-1-2, scoring just three goals in those four contests, while conceding five.\n"I am surprised and disappointed at our goal production," coach Jerry Yeagley said. "But we are creating scoring chances. If we weren't creating chances, then we'd have a bigger problem." \nIU has outshot its opponents 50-32 so far, but its scoring percentage has been .060.\n"Things simply haven't been going our way. The friendly bounces have not not been there," Yeagley said. "It's rare that we won't have the edge in goals for versus goals against, but the guys know we have potential." \nYeagley hopes the now-No. 4 ranked Hoosiers might start realizing some of that potential 7 p.m. tonight, when they face Louisville at Armstrong Stadium. The unranked Cardinals (2-2-0) have let up nine goals thus far, while scoring nine.\nTheir high-scoring style might be a plus for an IU team that is struggling to find the net.\n"I think we've had plenty of chances. Maybe that (style) benefits us," All-American senior forward Pat Noonan said.\nThe return of Noonan's striking mate, Mike Ambersley, should also have a positive impact on the Hoosiers' offense.\n"Part of our problem is not having Ambersley," Yeagley said. "Mike and Pat have been playing together forever. They went to the same high school and right now, I think that Pat is missing his friend up front."\nAmbersley, a sophomore forward who was the co-Big Ten freshman of the year last season, has only appeared in one game so far due to an aggravated back.\nResults of an MRI taken last week were negative, however, meaning that his problem is muscular and he should be back soon.\n"It's frustrating when your team doesn't score, but we went through the same thing last year, so we're not too concerned," senior defender John Swann said. "Our strength was in the air last season. We're a little shorter this year, so we're still trying to figure out how we're going to work. We feel once we get one goal, though, it's going to open us up, and we're going to get a lot more."\nThis past weekend at the St. John's Classic in New York, the Hoosier lost 3-0 to St. John's, the No. 15 team in the nation.\n"Seasons go by pretty quickly," Yeagley said. "We need to gain some confidence. We need to have a positive result tonight"
