Ex-couple close on custody deal

Lawyers say rock star and actress are near an agreement

LOS ANGELES - Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson are close to an agreement on custody of their two sons, lawyers told a judge Tuesday.\n"I believe we're really down to language" in the agreement and it probably will be signed by Monday, Lee's lawyer, Lance Spiegel, told a judge in a conference call.\nDetails weren't disclosed.\nSuperior Court Judge Lee Smalley Edmon warned that if the deal isn't completed by then, she would declare a mistrial.\n"We will work diligently. We have our orders," said Susan Harris, Anderson's attorney.\nThe lawyers were told to report their efforts to the court on Thursday.\nAnderson, the 35-year-old star of the TV series "VIP" and "Baywatch," and Lee, the 40-year-old former Motley Crue drummer, didn't attend the brief hearing.\nThe actress filed a petition last year seeking full custody of sons Brandon, 6, and Dylan, 4.\nShe claimed Lee is a poor role model and a "very angry, unstable man who presents a danger to others, particularly when he is using alcohol."\nLee filed a court declaration that he's been sober for two years and poses no danger to his sons.\nHe had said he planned to ask the court for equal custodial time.
