A public forum will be held at 7:30 p.m. tonight in Room 251 in the Radio and Television Building at which panelists will discuss the impact of the war on Afghanistan over the past year. \nSome of the participants include Sharif Fayez, the minister of higher education of Afghanistan; Zieba Shorish-Shamly, executive director of Women's Alliance for Peace and Human Rights in Afghanistan; Abdul Wahed Sarabi, Afghanistan's former minister of planning; and Alam Payind, director of the Middle Eastern Studies Center at Ohio State University and former director general of cultural and foreign relations at Kabul University in Afghanistan, according to a press report.\nThe Office of the Vice Chancellor and Dean of Faculties, the Russian and East European Institute, the IU Office of International Programs, the Inner Asian and Uralic National Resource Center, the IU Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies Program and the Center for the Study of Global Change are all co-sponsors of the event.
