Every year, the men's and women's basketball seasons kick off with Midnight Madness. The event marks the beginning of regular season practices and the end of off-season conditioning. For the admission price of one can of food, fans will get a first glimpse of the 2002-03 teams at Assembly Hall.\nThe event begins with a fan three-point contest, where four male and four female students will be randomly selected to compete. At 12:01 a.m., both teams will be introduced to the crowd. Both the men's and the women's teams will then participate in the spot shot contest and the three point contest.\nFollowing these competitions, four men's players will take part in the slam dunk contest, which will be judged by five women's players. At 1:05 a.m., the event will wrap up with a ten- minute scrimmage by the men's team.
