Quarterback earns conference honor

Gibran Hamdan named co-Big Ten Player of the Week

Senior quarterback Gibran Hamdan was named co-Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week along with Minnesota running back Terry Jackson for his performance against Wisconsin on Saturday. Hamdan led the Hoosiers from a 19-point deficit to a 32-29 victory over the Badgers.\nHamdan set career highs with 310 passing yards and four touchdowns while completing 24 of 36 pass attempts. In the fourth quarter, he was 11 of 14 for 155 yards and two touchdowns. Hamdan's four touchdowns were thrown to four different receivers. \nHe became the 12th quarterback in IU history to pass for 300 yards in a game, and the first since Antwaan Randle El passed for 329 yards against Purdue in 1999.\nHamdan is the second Hoosier to earn Player of the Week honors this season. Senior defensive lineman Kris Dielman earned Defensive Player of the Week honors for his performance against William & Mary in Week One.\nThis is the second straight year that an IU player has earned Player of the Week honors after playing Wisconsin. Last year, running back Levron Williams won the award after his six-touchdown performance against the Badgers.
