IU could not find redemption Thursday afternoon in East Lansing in the first round of the tournament. Purdue beat IU 1-0 for the second time this season in the fifth minute of overtime to advance to the second round of the Big Ten Tournament. \nThe Hoosiers entered the contest enthused over getting a chance at a rematch with Purdue. IU lost the first game 1-0 on a goal near the end of play Oct. 25 in West Lafayette. Thursday's encounter was very similar, with the Hoosiers and Boilers battling evenly to the end. Unfortunately for IU, the result was the same. \nSophomore forward Lauren Sesselmann nailed a header off a cross from junior forward Annette Kent for the game winner. Sesselmann also got the game winner in the regular season game against IU and has amassed 6 goals in total.\nCoach Mick Lyon remained confident and proud after the loss. \n"Our performance was outstanding," Lyon said in a statement. "We really stood up to the test. This was a typical tournament kind of game, where you are constantly matched up."\nSenior tri-captain midfielder Kara Bryan led the Hoosiers with five shots, four of them on goal. \nJunior goalkeeper Shaunna Daugherty made six saves including a superb save with less than four minutes remaining in regulation. Daugherty came out to challenge a Purdue offender at the top of the penalty box and successfully stopped the attack.\nPurdue came out of the gate looking to be physically dominant. In the first half, they had 12 fouls to the Hoosiers 4. \nIU ended up even with the Boilermakers in corner kicks and saves, but could not finish their opportunities. IU didn't get a shot off in overtime. \nIU ends their season with an overall record of 10-7-2, gaining two more wins than last season. \nHad the Hoosiers beaten 3rd seed Purdue, they would have played Ohio State who pulled out a huge upset over 2nd seed Michigan. Instead, the Boilermakers will attempt to defeat the 7th seeded Buckeyes Friday afternoon. OSU beat Purdue 2-1 in last year's Big Ten Tournament.
