In its last home game of the year, the IU men's basketball team needed a win to bolster their NCAA tournament chances and to send out its three seniors in style. \nThe squad didn't disappoint. \nThe Hoosiers defeated the Minnesota Golden Gophers 74-70 on Senior Night, led by senior forward Jeff Newton. Newton paced IU with 22 points, 16 rebounds and three blocks. He added three assists and was eight-of-eight from the line.\nFellow seniors, guards Tom Coverdale and Kyle Hornsby, each had nine points for IU. Coverdale also had eight assists, moving him into a tie for third on IU's all-time assist list with 474.\nFreshman Bracey Wright was the team's second leading scorer with 21 points.\nFor IU, the win raises its conference mark above .500 to 8-7 and helps solidify the team's chances of making the NCAA tournament.
