The Hoosiers traveled north to East Lansing, Mich., this weekend to take on Michigan, Michigan State, and Ohio State. In most of the races, the Hoosiers raced against Michigan in the morning and Michigan State in the afternoon. The novice four however competed against Ohio State, Michigan, and Michigan State in the second varsity four race.\nThe regatta was highlighted by the second novice eight who beat Michigan in the first race of the day with a time of 7:23, beating the Wolverines by three seconds. In their second race of the day, the Hoosiers took second place behind Michigan State by one second with a time of 7:26. Coach Mark Wilson said in a statement despite sub par results he was pleased with the regatta.\n"Overall all of the Indiana teams really did a very good job today," Wilson said in a statement. "We went up against the best competition we've seen this season. The performance of the first and second novice boats was very solid."\nThe first novice eight placed second to Michigan in its first race of the day. The Hoosiers finished with a time of 7:14 while Michigan came in at 7:10. Later in the day, the first novice eight took second behind Michigan State with a time of 7:18.\nThe novice four competed against the other teams second varsity eight boats in its race. The Hoosiers placed fourth with a time of 9:03. Ohio State took first with a time of 7:46 while Michigan placed second with a time of 7:51. Michigan State was four seconds slower than Michigan to take third place. \nThe varsity eight took second place to Michigan with a time of 6:59 in its first race of the day. In the Hoosiers' second race of the day against Michigan State, the team finished second with a time of 7:00. The second varsity eight placed second its first race against Michigan with a time of 7:24. Later in the afternoon, the Hoosiers took on Michigan State and finished second with a time of 6:45. Wilson said in a statement he was pleased with how the second varsity eight rowed.\n"While the second varsity eight boat had three or four lightweights and were not as physically strong as the Michigan boat, they came through with a solid performance," Wilson said.\nAlthough they finished 20 seconds behind the Michigan boat it was a good result, Wilson said in a statement that he feels his team is ready for the Big Ten Championships.\n"We feel good that we are closer than we have been in the past years, so the program is moving forward," Wilson said. "We are really putting a positive spin on our performance today, and we feel good heading towards the Big Ten Championships"
