The IU women's track and field team sent several athletes to compete in three different meets over the weekend. The Hoosiers had top performances at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa., the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, and the Boilermaker Invitational at Purdue. \nAt the Penn Relays, senior Danielle Carruthers' 100-meter hurdle performance was one of the highlights of the weekend as she finished just shy of first place after barely being edged by Texas' Nichole Denby. Senior Rachelle Boone also had a strong showing by finishing third in the 100-meter dash. Boone and Carruthers used their speed again in the 4x200 relay, along with teammates sophomore Ara Towns and junior Chioma Ndubisi to finish fifth. \nAnother relay team, the 4x800 made up of senior Stephanie Magley, junior Audrey Geisler and sophomores Mindy Peterson and Larra Overton added a third place finish to the list of Hoosier accomplishments at the Penn Relays.\nAt the Drake Relays, senior Kelley McKinney finished seventh in the hammer throw, and freshman Jean Schaffer finished in a three-way tie for 12th place. \nTwo Hoosiers came up with winning performances at the Boilermaker Invitational. Junior Jennifer Cobbina took first place in the long jump, and freshman Kelly Siefker won the 1500m.\nSenior Jessica Comfort finished third in the 400-meter dash, followed by teammate freshman Jessica Cassell who finished sixth in the event. Sophomore Ashley Groth added a third place finish in the 800m with a season-best time. \nIU will be back in action May 3 when it faces Purdue in West Lafayette.
