This weekend the IU women's golf team traveled to Columbus, Ohio, to participate in the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational.\nTwo weeks ago, the Hoosiers served as the host for the Indiana Invitational and finished in fourth place. The Buckeyes of Ohio State were less hospitable toward their guests as they shot record-breaking numbers and blistered the rest of the field, winning the tournament by 30 strokes. \nThe Hoosiers shot a first round 308, a second round 309 and a final round 307 to finish with 924 strokes. The Buckeyes shot a first round 289 and finished strong on Sunday with a round of 295. Ohio State sophomore Kristen White tied the tournament record with a mark of 214 to win the individual title. White broke a course record by shooting a first round 66. \nIU found itself in a familiar position this weekend, behind Kent State. The Lady Buckeye Invitational marked the sixth time the Hoosiers have competed in the same tournament as Kent State, and the Golden Flashes placed second this weekend making the Buckeye Invite the fifth time they have finished ahead of the Hoosiers.\nJunior Danah Ford used a strong second round 71 to finish in a tie for seventh place. Junior Karen Dennison rebounded after struggling a bit in the first two rounds by shooting a final round even-par 72 to finish in a tie for 10th place. This marked the first time this season Dennison had not led the Hoosiers' scoring attack.\nRounding out the team's scoring were junior Ambry Bishop, who shot a three round score of 232 (+16) to place 15th, senior Cara Stuckey who finished in 24th after firing consecutive rounds of 80, freshman Molly Redfearn who placed in a tie for 41st and sophomore Bethany Brunner who carded a 250 for the tournament and finished in 49th place.\nPoor weather that was in the forecast earlier in the week never materialized as the Hoosiers were greeted by perfect golfing conditions when they arrived in Columbus. \n"The conditions were absolutely perfect today, and the golf course was in great shape," coach Sam Carmichael said after Saturday's play. "Today was certainly ideal for scoring, but unfortunately we struggled."\nThe Hoosiers take to the course next week in the Big Ten Championships in Iowa City, Iowa, where the team will be looking to capture IU's eighth Big Ten title, tying Ohio State for the record.
