Wins end regular season

The Hoosiers wrapped up their Collegiate Water Polo Association weekend Sunday with a 12-1 victory over Grove City College. Playing in its last game before postseason play starts, IU dominated the whole way.\nAgainst Grove City the Hoosiers took command early, leading 9-0 at halftime. Sophomore Krista Peterson and senior Ginger Wang led IU with three goals each.\nWith the victory the Hoosiers moved past the twenty-win plateau for the fifth time in the six year history of the program.\nIn the first game Sunday the Hoosiers dominated Gannon, winning 15-4. \nSeniors Kristin Stanford and Sarah Butler shared the scoring lead with three goals each. The win marked Coach Barry King's 125th victory of his coaching career. Along with King's individual accolade, Stanford continued to get closer to the school record for scoring in a season. With nine goals on the weekend, she is now just three goals short of breaking the record. \nOn Saturday, the Hoosiers started the tournament in dominating fashion. In the later game IU fell behind to Slippery Rock as the Hoosiers surrendered the first goal of the game. But Indiana stormed back to take an 8-2 lead into halftime. \nIn the second half it was all Hoosiers as they scored seven unanswered goals, winning the game 15-2. Peterson led the way for IU with four goals, while Stanford and Butler were close behind with three a piece. \n"It was a good weekend for us and it was good to a few games after a long spring break trip," Stanford said. "It helped get us back on page before the divisional tournament."\nIn the first game of the tournament the Nittany Lions of Penn State-Behrend were no match for the Hoosiers. IU took a 10-1 lead into halftime and never looked back, winning the game 15-3. \nSix Hoosiers led the team with two goals a piece, including seniors Jamie Marley, Wang and Stanford, freshmen Courtney Thom and Bridget McKeon and Peterson. \n"I thought we played well today and this weekend," King said. "The girls did a good job of keeping focus and staying sharp in every game."\n With the four victories on the weekend the Hoosiers improved to 7-1 in CWPA play which will give them one of the top seeds for the Southern Divisional Championships. IU will take a weekend off before competing in the Divisional's in Lewisberg, Penn., April 12 to 13.
