The IU women's golf team will conclude its fall season this weekend at the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, N.C. The Country Club of Landfall, designed by Jack Nicklaus, will serve as host for the event. The tournament will consist of three rounds beginning Friday morning.\nThe Hoosiers will be one of 12 teams in the field, and one of seven ranked in the top 50 in the latest Golfweek polls. The other teams in the top 50 include New Mexico, Tulsa, Tulane, Furman, Arkansas and Florida State. The Hoosiers enter the Landfall ranked No. 33 in the nation.\nThe Hoosiers have already shown they can play among the best teams in the nation after taking second place in their last tournament, the Shootout at the Legends. Senior Karen Dennison got back on track, firing a final round 69 to win medalist honors by three strokes. Senior Danah Ford finished in fourth place, and sophomore Molly Redfearn finished in a tie for 15th. \nCoach Sam Carmichael, now in his 23rd year with the team, expects a similar showing this week after a short break from competition.\n"We wanted to play in four events this fall, and play late into the fall season. The Landfall Tradition gives us that opportunity," Carmichael said. "It is played on an excellent golf course, and the competition will be good with teams from all over the country. We hope to conclude our fall season with a positive performance as we head into the offseason."\nJunior Bethany Brunner and sophomore Lissa Putnam will accompany Dennison, Ford and Redfearn to Wilmington for the tournament. This is the first appearance for the Hoosiers at the Landfall Tradition. \nThe Hoosiers will be out of competition until the spring season begins Feb. 23-24, 2004, at the Central District Invitational in Parrish, Fla.
