Jefferson named Athlete of the Week

IU cross country runner sophomore Sean Jefferson was named Big Ten Athlete of the Week Wednesday for his effort in the Murray Keating Invitational.\nJefferson was the first Hoosier to cross the finish line and fifth overall in an elite field which included No. 1 ranked Stanford. Jefferson paced IU to a third place finish while running a personal best time of 24:01 in the 8 kilometer race.\nThis is the second time in his short IU career that Jefferson has won the award. The last time was Oct. 9, 2002, after he placed fifth at the Indiana State Invitational. \nJefferson shared this award with University of Michigan sophomore runner Nick Willis. \nJefferson and the Hoosiers will be back in action Oct. 18 competing in the Pre-NCAA Meet.
