Baseball team drops 3 in Louisiana\nThe Hoosiers returned from the first road trip of the season empty-handed after two close losses at Southeastern Louisiana University this weekend. The team dropped a low-scoring game on Friday, 4-2, despite out-hitting the Lions. \nThe second game of the weekend saw more offense, as the teams combined to score 23 runs. The Hoosiers had trouble scoring until late in the 12-11 loss but were able to put together a late rally that fell short. The team was able to pull close in the eighth inning when it scored seven runs to make it 9-7. Freshman pitcher Byron Banks took the loss for the Hoosiers. Sophomore pitcher Chris Hynes left the game in the second with an elbow injury.\nThe final game of the weekend turned out a similar result, as the Hoosiers lost 9-1 Sunday. The Lions were able to four-hit the Hoosiers before the game was called in the seventh inning due to Indiana's travel arrangements. \nHoosiers end up 2-3 on Houston road trip\nThe IU softball team saw the highs and the lows in this weekend's Houston Crown Plaza Invitational. The team split its games both Friday and Saturday, beating Manhattan and Centenary while losing to Florida and Houston.\nSophomore pitcher Mariangee Bogado lived up to her All-American status, throwing complete games in the 1-0 win over Centenary and the 0-1 loss to Florida. She combined for 13 strikeouts in the two games, allowing only one hit to Centenary.\nIn the 5-1 win over Manhattan, senior first baseman Karly McCormack led the way, going 2 for 4 and scoring twice. Freshman Kim Richards also contributed with a two-run double in the third inning.\nSophomore Tory Yamaguchi had the best offensive performance of the weekend in the Hoosiers' 12-2 loss to Houston. Yamaguchi went 3-3 with a triple and a home run that was belted out in the fourth inning.\nThe Hoosiers lost their last game Sunday against Nebraska.\nIU upsets No. 12 Kentucky Wildcats\nRallying back from a 2-1 deficit early Sunday, the IU women's tennis team upset No. 12 Kentucky 5-2 to bring its record on the season to 5-2. \nThe win is the first for the Hoosiers since the 1992-93 season, a span lasting nine meetings. \nThe Hoosiers started Sunday dropping two of the first three. Only junior Dora Vastag and freshman Laura McGaffigan pulled out wins.\nIU rebounded and went on to win five of the next six singles matches to secure the win. \nVastag and senior Linda Tran led the Hoosiers' singles onslaught, with Vastag defeating No. 23 junior Aibika Kalsarieva 6-2, 6-4. Tran won her match 6-0, 6-2. \nKentucky tied the match at two wins apiece when freshman Laura McGaffigan lost her match 6-3, 6-3.\nFreshman Cecil Perton put the Hoosiers in the lead for good with a 6-2, 7-5 victory. Sophomore Sarah Batty and senior Karie Shlukebir won the final two matches in three sets each to take the victory for IU at home.
