Schilling will not start Game 5 because of ankle\nBOSTON -- Curt Schilling will miss a start for the first time all season -- and just when the Red Sox need him most.\nThe Boston ace was scratched from his scheduled start in Game 5 of the AL championship series against the New York Yankees because of an injured ankle that was too sore to test Thursday. Manager Terry Francona wouldn't rule Schilling out for a later start -- if the Red Sox make it that far.\nFrancona penciled Derek Lowe in for the fifth game on Sunday -- unless the schedule is pushed back by rain forecasted for Game 3 Friday night. The Yankees led the Red Sox 2-0 in the best-of-7 series.\nSchilling led the major leagues with 21 wins, and he was second in the AL in ERA and third in strikeouts. But he lasted just three innings and 58 pitches while allowing six runs in Boston's 10-7 loss in Tuesday night's opener; it was his poorest postseason performance since 1993.
Urlacher hopes to return versus Redskins\nLAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Brian Urlacher, who had never missed a game in his four-year career before sitting out the past two with a sore hamstring, hopes to play Sunday against the Washington Redskins.\nThe Chicago Bears' four-time Pro Bowl linebacker has been practicing this week and is eager to get back.\nIt's been a frustrating run for Urlacher, who hurt the hamstring in the first practice of training camp and missed the entire preseason.\nHe started the first two regular-season games against Detroit and Green Bay, making 14 tackles in each one with a sack and a forced fumble.\nThen the injury tightened up and his string of 64 straight starts ended when he couldn't go against the Vikings Sept. 26. He also missed a game against the Eagles Oct. 10.\n"Just practicing, and all of a sudden it didn't feel right, and they didn't think it would be a good idea to put me back out there," Urlacher said Thursday. "We decided it was a good idea that I didn't play"
