LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Chicago Bears defensive end Adewale Ogunleye says he has a small tear in the ligament of his right ankle and won't play Sunday against Tampa Bay.\nOgunleye was not ruled out of the game but was downgraded on the injury list Thursday from questionable to doubtful.\nTold that Ogunleye said he had a slight tear, coach Lovie Smith said his defensive end has been diagnosed with a strained muscle.\n"Dr. Adewale? Is he a doctor?" Smith asked. "All I know on the injury is that you're talking about a muscle strain. Right now that's what our trainers ... are telling us."\nRegardless, Smith will not take a chance on playing Ogunleye with a serious injury.\n"He's our future," the coach said. "We'll be careful with him and let people tell us exactly what the problem is. Until then, we'll keep him out."\nOgunleye, the sacks leader in the AFC last season with 15 for Miami, was injured in the third quarter of last Sunday's loss to Washington when Redskins running back Clinton Portis stepped on his ankle.\nOgunleye was traded to the Bears from the Dolphins on Aug. 21 after he sat out all of training camp in a salary dispute. Chicago sent top receiver Marty Booker to Miami.\nIn five games with the Bears, Ogunleye has 20 tackles and one sack. Tests revealed the extent of the injury, initially announced as a sprained ankle.
