Hoosiers welcome Kentucky, Utah for Invitational\nAfter dropping one spot in the national polls, the No. 14-ranked IU men's swimming and diving team will attempt to bounce back from a disappointing loss by participating in the ninth annual Indiana Invitational. The Invitational, which will take place at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center from today through Sunday, is a 10-team competition.\nHowever, only three men's swimming and diving teams are involved: the Hoosiers, No. 12 Kentucky and unranked University of Utah are competing in the three-day event.\nThe Hoosiers know Kentucky extremely well, as the Wildcats ruined a potential sweep by IU in dual meets two weeks ago. Coming off a strong win against then-No.14 ranked Northwestern, 179-129, the Hoosiers were unsuccessful the next day against the Wildcats, losing 95-148. On the same day, coach Ray Looze and his team held off unranked Southwest Missouri State University, 185-58, bringing the team's dual meet record to a pleasing 5-2 and 1-0 in Big Ten competition. \nFor the 2004 Indiana Invitational, the Hoosiers will seek revenge against Kentucky and claim victory against the Utah Utes. The swimming schedule involves preliminary start times at 9 a.m. each day, with the finals at 6 p.m. The divers' start times vary each day but range from 10 a.m. to 12:55 p.m.

No. 21 IU ready for 9th Indiana Invitational today\nWith more than a week off from competition, the No. 21-ranked IU women's swimming and diving team enters this weekend playing host to the Indiana Invitational. The Invitational will begin Friday and last through Sunday at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center. Each day of competition will begin at 9 a.m., with preliminary heats and finals beginning at 6 p.m. \nIU will be taking on Big Ten rivals No. 17 Michigan and Illinois, as well as Kentucky, Miami University (Ohio), the University of Toledo and the University of Utah. IU heads into the meet with an overall record of 3-2 within dual meets and 0-1 within the Big Ten conference. \nThe Hoosiers furnished wins by beating Kentucky, Southwest Missouri State University and in-state rival the University of Evansville. The two close-margin losses come from Big Ten rival Northwestern and Arizona State University. \nThis Indiana Invitational will mark the ninth time the meet has occurred. Last year the women's team took the Indiana Invitational by defeating runner-up Pittsburgh University by a margin of 124 points. The women's program looks for another dominating performance again this year at the Invitational, as it already has six swimmers and divers putting up NCAA qualifying performances. IU divers Lindsay Weigle, Heather Chapman and Christina Loukas have posted NCAA diving qualifying marks. Additionally, IU swimmers Kristen Bradley, Leila Vaziri and Sarah Bugden have posted NCAA provisional qualifying times in the 400-yard individual medley, the 100-yard freestyle and 200-yard butterfly, respectively.
