Ketchum leads IU in Hoosier Open

In the first indoor meet of the season for the men's track and field team, one Hoosier has already provisionally qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships. \nJunior Ryan Ketchum hurled the shot put past the NCAA Provisional standard of 17.75 meters to grab first place with a mark of 17.84 meters. He added a third-place finish in the weight-throw with a personal best heave of 18.28 meters. \nJunior sprinter Andre Grimes provided some drama in the 400-meter run, trailing until the final straight before overtaking an Illinois athlete to win the event in 49.50 seconds. \nSophomore All-American David Neville, a 200- and 400-meter specialist, had his first foray into the 600-meter, taking third in 1:23. \nIn the pole vault, junior David Stead set a new personal best of 4.85-meters en route to winning the event.\nFreshman George Tembon won the triple jump, one of IU's strongest events, with a leap of 13.54-meters.
